It was an absolute pleasure having this young lady into the studio yesterday evening! I’ve been photographing Laura (Winnipeg Based Actor) over the last few years and I always enjoy her laugh, beautiful smile and fun personality. She never makes it easy for me to narrow down her proofing link-always leaving me with so many great images to choose from! Here are just a couple of the 100 images or so! I’m going to get back to work putting together the proofing link-I can’t wait and see what her and her Agent decide on!
Joey is One!
Joey is One! It was an absolute pleasure having this young man in front of my camera over this past year! In fact, I guess it is fair to say, it has been even longer than that if I count photographing him while he was still in his mother’s womb! He is a clever, loveable, little boy with a wonderful personality and a super smile! I was always amazed how much he grew within a few months from one session to the next. Newborn Sydney
Big brother “D” welcomed his new sister into the world just before the Holiday season! (Above). It was so wonderful to meet this precious addition to their family. Congratulations go out to the parents!! I got to take a peek at her just a few weeks back and I can’t believe how much more she has grown!! Newborn Leah
The first Day of Spring has arrived ! I find myself so inspired and rejuvenated with the promise of a new season. The warm temps this past week spurred me into action -I found myself ordering some new backdrops and props! I hopped in the car for the 6 hour drive to pick them up this weekend and even the big snowflakes coming down during the drive could not curb my enthusiasm for the anticipated future sessions using the newly purchased goods.
I haven’t found the time to blog over the couple last months-I had the amazing opportunity to teach the Industry Studies Diploma class at the PrairieView School of Photography for 8 weeks, while also keeping up with client sessions, making for some busy months. Unfortunately I always find the blogging is the first thing that drops off of my to do list! So that being said, I have a lot of catching up to do! I’m starting with the flurry of activity before the Christmas season!
That “flurry” of activity had alot to do with some beautiful little ladies arriving in time for the holidays. Let’s meet the first! I photographed Jeff and Astrids Wedding just over a year ago now and was so excited to have heard they welcomed their new baby girl into the world. It was so special meeting her and having her in front of my lens!! Here are just a few images captured during our time together! Congratulations go out to the parents!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! Hope today finds you enjoying some relaxing memorable times with loved ones! I just had to share this post today as it involves some images of the man in red! Okay-I guess there were two men in red for this one- LOL! I’ve really enjoyed my time with this family over the past year also capturing images of Joey in his first year! He “rocked” the session -just check out that gorgeous smile! I know his parents will be enjoying their first Christmas with him this morning!
It’s Christmas Eve!
Its Christmas Eve!!! I can’t believe how this year has flown by! Hopefully all presents are wrapped, gatherings planned and you’re finding some time just to enjoy the next couple of days with friends or family!
Nov. was a bustle with holiday portrait sessions in the studio. I’ve had a wonderful time photographing this family over the years and a few more times this year as we captured Baby Amelia growing up in her first year! Little Derek had a wish to do this years Family Christmas photos in pj’s! Why not! So we made that happen in the studio and had a really fun time creating some unique images. (Great idea Derek!) Welcome Newborn J!
Congratulations go out to R & J !! On Feb 17th at 3:28 a.m. they were blessed to have this sweet bundle arrive! At just 8 days old it was a pleasure to meet and photograph their new baby boy, Mr. J! He’s the strong silent, serious type- and what a cutie in those great hand knitted caterpillar outfits he received as a gift! Welcome Miss A! I was thrilled to meet this beautiful new baby girl at the beginning of February! It was a wonderful session that included capturing some special moments between her and her awesome big brother! At times she slept and at other times she was really alert checking me and my camera out with the cutest of expressions as if she was posing!! Congratulations K&D on the new addition to your family!
Cake Smash Time!
Happy First Birthday goes out to this little girl! It was a thrill to meet you! I had the honour of photographing her parents wedding last year and I was so happy when her mother called to see if I’d do a Birthday session with her. Such a friendly little girl with a twinkle in her eye! It was so much fun to capture some pictures of her and then complete the session with a fun cake smash! Tianna’s 1!
I can’t believe it-It just seemed like yesterday I was photographing this beautiful new born baby girl and creating announcement cards. I’ve been so privileged to have photographed her over the year and capture some important stages in her first year. A sweet, beautiful gem. A little shy at first-hiding behind her blanket, teasing me and my camera with one gleaming eye-and then a few minutes later capturing my heart with her big brown eyes, waterfall pony-and her trademark side tongued smile 🙂
“Boy Time” at the Forks
Meet “Mr. J”. I met up with his mother and him at the Forks last weekend for a photo session. We checked out the new kids water park and the ducks along the river. I had the best time! Those of you who know me, know I have two older boys. But I still remember those park days when they were this age. We had the most wonderful adventures-we were Pirates, Adventures, Acrobats, and even sticks we found in the bushes became props to our newly created person’s! This morning was no different!:) Mr. J and I ( I say “I ” loosely cause really all I was doing was suggesting what Mr. J should do, keeping up with him, and clicking the camera) had a REALLY active hour! My boys always say this job keeps me young-I think they are right because Mr. J and I climbed into things (Above)…

THEN we found some water …. yep and with mom’s permission ran in with our clothes on!
I think with the expression on Mr. J’s face -I think I could say he had a REALLY good time!

Smile Day
Some days at work I find myself smiling the whole day. I smiled all morning long at this baby photo session and then all afternoon as I edited the images. How could I not when all I saw was happiness. I didn’t even mind hearing the “Barney song” over and over again in the morning (and then having it replay in my brain all afternoon.) The song magically induced fits of laughter and smiles from this 4 month old during the session. Yep-some days I have the best job ever!
Expressions Film Studio Take 2!
As promised on last weeks blog, Expressions Film Studio Take 1, here are the rest of the wonderful actors I had the good fortune to meet and photograph this past February. We had a blast in the Studio and within a matter of seconds of snapping a couple of images, I could tell they were very comfortable in front of the camera and VERY talented-some already finding employment in the film industry!
Expressions Film Studio, under the direction of the talented Reena Shah, provides children with professional acting instruction where in they can develop skills of confidence, empowerment and public speaking. I was able to take in a portion of one of their acting classes and observed not only skill development, but how friendships had been developed as well!

Expressions Film Studio -Take 1!
February was such an awesome month!! Having the young talented actors from Expressions Film Studio in the studio for portraits made a week of my photographic time a sheer delight! I spent about an hour with each actor, realizing quite quickly, that their confidence and acting abilities were going to to work some magic in creating strong portrait images for them to submit for auditions.

A little Fall and a little Christmas!
I drove my son to school this morning and noticed how so many homes have Christmas trees already displayed in their front windows. It got me to thinking how close the holidays really are! A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing this family. I had photographed the girls a couple of years back when the youngest was still a baby. (Where does time go? ) We had a fun Christmas specific session in the studio and then walked to the park across from my house for pics in the woods and then to the tall grasses just outside the border of the back of my home. Part of the joy of the season is truly the fact that I get to spend a wonderful hour with some pretty wonderful families! Enjoy just a few images from the session.

Now Booking Family Sessions for the Holidays!
The first family session of the Holiday Season! Yes, I’m talking about the Holiday Season-the one 4 month’s away. It’s not to early to start booking now if you want to do family pictures outdoors!-4 month’s seems like a long time but let me break it down for you. December-You are busy shopping and wrapping presents, going to your kids concerts, etc… Plus you need to send out your cards by middle of December, therefore you need to have everything ready to go photo wise by the beginning of December-We are now down to 3 month’s. November, Ebonie is busy getting the last of the photo files and family order’s out to clients, the beginning of the month to the middle she is away. We are now down to 2 months. We are now at the end of August. Sun is setting earlier in the evenings and soon no longer will there be time to do family sessions in the evening. The rain and the cold weather arrives. We are now down to 9 weekends (18 days)! In those weekends we now have to calculate in fall weddings, the weather, and family sessions that are already booked… You know what that means-Call soon if you want an outdoor family session! Don’t forget-another great option to the family sessions is to do a studio session which are available during the week nights!
Walt and Sheryl and their family were my first official holiday family session this year! We had a wonderful photographic session time last weekend afternoon at Kildonan Park. I had not met their children before and I was so amused by how much they look like their parents! The kids did awesome-really “working the camera” ! (So did the parents:)) I put together a card example below of how a family session images can work together for that purpose. We do offer that service as well! Yesterday afternoon was the first time the new Ebonie Klassen Photography promo clip was shown in public, to a class of soon- to -be graduates of the Prairie View School of Photography. Paolo Porquez and myself have been working on the concept for the past couple of weeks as a promotional tool to use for talks, ads, etc. for my Photography business. Thank-you so much Paolo for your help shooting and editing it! I think he captured the spirit of a children’s session in my studio very well. Well done Paolo! Fun Family Friday!
I had the wonderful opportunity on the Easter long weekend to spend time in the studio with this delightful Family! Friday afternoon was spent with Monica and Nitan and their children, Aryan (3 years old) and Rayna(15 months old) . A couple of changes of clothes, different props, and the hour just flew by! I must say I think I enjoyed the images with the children in their “Bollywood ” clothes … but I know I lost my heart to little Rayna in her purple dress. I think the hardest thing about putting this blog together was to decide which images to choose from! The kids were so cute in soooo many! I’m looking forward to seeing Aryan again, as well as his class mates next week, for their school Photos!

Promotional video in the works!
Friday was a super fun afternoon! I was lucky to find two great kids, brother and sister team, Jessica and Kyle, who were more than willing not only to be photographed, but also willing to be videotaped being photographed! LOL! I’m currently working on a promotional video showing the photographic experience kids have when they come into the studio! I hope to be able to share it with clients so they can know what to expect when they book a children’s or family studio session with me. Not only will it function well as an informative tool on my site but also as something I can bring along to upcoming talks or booth set-ups down the road!
Special thanks to associate Paolo who is working on putting the video together. I have to give some credit as well to my oldest son. I was looking for a new upbeat song to use for the video and he was able to find me one by FM Static in less than a minute. It is so new I can’t even buy it till Tuesday!!! LOL! Looking forward to sharing it with you when it comes to fruition in a couple of weeks! Here are a few of the shots I was able to capture that will be part of the final video. Enjoy!
Sienna and Carson in the Studio!
This weeks “photographic delight ” was having Brother and sister duo, Sienna and Carson, in to the studio! You may have remembered Carson from a blog a few months ago. He had his one year old session with his amazing John Deer Tractor! His mother brought both kids in this month to take advantage of my In Studio Anniversary Portrait Special– which I may add, is still on going till March 21st!
We spent an hour photographing the kids together and the kids separately with various clothing changes as well as backdrop changes. Props were supplied by myself as well as a contribution of toys the kids brought from home. I find most children feel comfortable with a toy they know and usually they love to show them off! Sometimes the best images are captured with everyday practical items like a “blankie”. We had a few moments of serious laughter as Carson decided to play peek-a-boo with his!
