N&L Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Manitoba Wedding
Absolutely breath-taking, are words to describe Nick and Lucette’s Wedding Day! This country wedding was situated in the beautiful rolling hills of the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes area of Manitoba. I had photographed Nick’s sister’s wedding a couple of years earlier in that same area and was so taken by its beauty that I was thrilled when I was asked to do a second wedding there! The Wedding Day started out with rain but we worked around it by photographing in sheltered areas such as hay shelters and for the Bride’s side the beautiful Trappist Monastery in Holland, MB. . The sun peeked out a bit in the afternoon for the Ceremony in town and the outdoor formals at a deserted farmstead and an Uncle’s grain field. The clouds and rain returned just as we were finishing up to head back to the reception. I was actually super happy about that because the clouds really added to the dramatic effect of the last few images captured of the couple, over-looking the valley. Thanks go out to the wonderful families and the fun wedding party and last but not least- the amazingly organized, creative, delightful couple, Nick and Lucette! Thanks also go out to my photography Team for the Day- Colin Vandenberg -amazing job with the Grooms side and the rest of the day, Cullen Klassen for his assistance with the Bride’s side in the morning and the formals and of course, Hubby Henry, for is chauffeuring abilities on the country roads.
I started pulling files to post on the blog and found myself laughing out loud at the amount I had pulled. So I culled it back a bit (Okay a lot) and here are a few to give you an idea of what a BEAUTIFUL day it really was! Enjoy!
Loved seeing the use of the couple’s Engagement pictures on the wine bottles!

R&S Engagement
The spring season has to be my favourite season, it always holds the promise of future possibilities and new beginnings! I have to say, we had the most perfect Spring Day for this couple’s engagement session at BirdsHill Park! The sun was shinning, the sky was blue, and the grass just beginning to to show a hint of green. What a beautiful setting to showcase a perfect Spring Day and of course the love between this couple! Associate Paolo and I enjoyed our early evening time with R & S and their dog Kodi, photographing at various locations around the park and finishing up the day with a wonderful sunset offering up some beautiful colourful light. We loved the playful nature between these two and are looking forward to their early Sept. wedding in Gimli, MB. Please enjoy a few of the images captured that evening! Congratulations go out to R &S on their Engagement!
J & T Engagement
It’s blog 8 of 14 in a row! It’s been hard picking and choosing which sessions to blog but I felt I had to include this one as it has has a bit of a sentimental quality to me since it features a family member! Our niece Talia got engaged to a great guy, Jeremy, this past year and I was honoured to be asked to be the photographer for the Wedding next summer. I could hardly wait to get these two in front of my lens and we decided on a Fall engagement session in The Exchange District.
This past Fall was quite busy for the business and I was thankful for the assistance of talented photographer Colin Vandenberg with second shooting and editing help. Colin was able to join us for the session and I’ve featured a number of his images. Congratulations go out to Talia and Jeremy – wishing you happiness for the future! Happy Planning you two! 🙂

T&T Engagement session
A fall wedding is around the corner for this wonderful couple! Associate photographer, David Lipnowski and I enjoyed a few hours with them a few weekends ago for an engagement session. It was raining so we looked for some shelter to keep the couple dry…hello, perfect location right on their front stairs! (The first few images captured wonderfully by David! ) Then we headed out for some shelter under an overpass close to the couple’s home-I love finding new photography locations! Local artist’s work are featured in the foundation. Please enjoy just a few sneak peeks from the session!

K&S Lake Engagement Session Sneak Peek
Who says rain isn’t romantic! 🙂 I had the opportunity to head out to K&S’s lake spot near the Whiteshell this past weekend with associate photographers Colin Vandenberg and Kristen Sawatzky. We had a fun afternoon photographing the couple, doing things they love at the lake-including canoeing, kayaking and quading! Just as we were winding up we had a great storm pass through-good thing we were able to dip into a bird sanctuary building for a bit of shelter -and another amazing photography location! I’m still working on their proofing link -playing with some editing presets..but here are a few images as a sneak peek! Enjoy!

W & M Engagement session
Associate Paolo and I had a wonderful time photographing this couple in Morden, MB.! I instantly fell in love with the town and it’s historic buildings and homes – and W & M were naturals in front of the camera! I have to say, after this visit to downtown Morden and seeing the reception venue- I’m really looking forward to going back to the town to photograph this couple’s wedding on October! Spring was the perfect time for this engagement session. We didn’t even mind the slight drizzle coming down most of the afternoon, we felt it really added a romantic feel in the images. The images further down on the stone bridge even reminded me a bit of images posted of Ireland! Please enjoy just a few of my favs from the afternoon’s session!

J&A Engagement Session
I thought I had completed my weddings for the year in September and then the week after J&A contacted me. After sitting down and meeting with this couple I was thrilled to be asked to photograph their wedding in late November. It became apparent to me through our planning that this couple loved colour. Talk about timing for a colourful Engagement session outdoors when the leaves are at their most brilliant and the woods a bright palette of oranges, reds and golds! We arranged for an engagement session at Birds Hill Park at the beginning of October and spent a couple of really fun hours at the historic site and in the fields there. Here are just a few of the images captured during our great time together! Stay tuned for wedding images in late November!
A&D Engagement Session
A&D’s wedding date is fast approaching! I have to say -we hit it off when we met for the first time -and I was thrilled when they chose to have me photograph their special day! A couple of weeks ago, we met at a park for a morning engagement session. Spring is such a beautiful promise of things to come -The leaves at the park where we photographed were just starting to bud, the grass was a bright carpet of green and the sky a gorgeous shade of blue. This couple’s love for each other just so evident in the way they laughed and smiled at each other-such a pleasure to capture that! I’m sooooo looking forward to spending the wedding day with them! Congrats D&A!!
K&A -The Exchange Engagement Session
About a month ago, associate Matthew Sawatzky and I met up with K&A in the Exchange District for their Engagement session. We had the best time and I think we laughed for the entire hour while photographing and then sat down at a local cafe to iron out the photography details of their summer wedding. I can most definitely say this couple has no trouble taking direction and if anything put a 150% into what I asked them to do. At one point we had a blast as I asked them to run into an empty street, strike a pose and then run back out repeatable times to see what they would do! LOL!!! I had to show you some of the results below- I think K most definitely got his work out that evening!! Please enjoy just a few of the images we were able to capture around Winnipeg’s downtown Exchange District that evening!
My fav. shot from Matthew in the image above! We are so looking forward to spending your wedding day with you A&K! Congrats!!!
Only in Canada-M & D ice fishing Engagement session.
I’m sure -only in Canada can we make ice fishing in early spring a romantic outing for an engagement session!! lol! I asked Mandy and Dustin what they did in their spare time and this was it – in the winter months! It seemed perfectly logical to make it part of their Engagement session! It does feel a bit odd to be editing these snowy images as the buds are finally forming on tree branches. We packed up the rods, dogs, blankets, lures, sled and warm drinks and headed out to create some romantic images. We had a great day for the session -only mildly chilly and very little wind. Paolo Porquez and I had a great time with the couple and their dogs! Their July wedding is coming up quickly! Please enjoy just a few of the images we were able to capture that day!
Great shot above by Paolo!
M&M Engagement
It was on a slightly chilly day in Feb that associate Matthew Sawatzky and I met with this wonderful couple for their engagement session at the Forks. -10C is not bad considering the temp. we reach on average during the winter here in Winnipeg! We had some fun posing indoors at the terminals and then continued the session -taking to the warming hut out doors. The couple laced up their skates and spend some time on the scenic river path. Planning for a late in the day session had its advantages in that we were able to catch the sun going down in some of our images. The sun turned out to be a nice twist to the day as it had been cloudy up until that time! Please enjoy some of the images we were able to capture! Thanks M&M for a great afternoon-Looking forward to spending your wedding day with you!

Fall Wedding!
I can hardly believe it’s here already!! It just seems like the other day when Garrett asked “THE question” and Kerilyn said yes! It was so much fun spending some time with them during their Engagement session in the Spring and Paolo and I are looking forward to photographing their Fall Wedding tomorrow!! Stay tuned for some sneak peeks!
Wedding this week!
Just starting the pre-wedding gear pack-up and prep for Ronalee and Jerry’s wedding this Friday! Looks like the days of rain here in the “Peg” will soon come to an end and we could be in for some beautiful photography weather for their special Day! Paolo and I enjoyed an early evening engagement session on Waterfront drive with the couple just a couple weeks back. We are looking forward to meeting their Wedding Party, Families and Guests in just a couple of days! Stay tuned for a wedding sneak peek next week!
My Fav. “Paolo P image” from the session above!
Gone fishing!
Kristin and Daryl only have a couple more weeks till their Wedding Day in June! Photographer, Matthew Sawatzky, and I got together a couple of weeks back to do an engagement session with them- had an amazing fun time! We started along Waterfront drive and featured their love of fishing, then visited the warehouse district and topped off the evening with a trip to Lockport for some sunset pics. Tons of Laughs, a lure caught in my scarf, a late night supper at Half Moon Restaurant and a few stories to share with friends!
Matthew, an alumni from Prairie View School of Photography will be assisting me as a second shooter with this wedding. I sometimes get asked why I work weddings with a second shooter. Beside the obvious of having back-up photos of the important days events – a second lens, different perspective of the same happening, really adds to the “story ” of the Special Day. For example, above is my image captured (a close up of the couple’s faces enjoying a laugh) and below, Matt’s wider perspective of the entire fishing experience taken at exactly the same moment.
Above and 3 images below some of my fav’s captured by associate Matt.
Below: After the fun session downtown I drove out of the city with the couple to capture a few sunset pics in Lockport ,MB.
Thanks Kristin and Daryl for a wonderful, fun filled, adventurous and story filled engagement session! Matt and I are looking forward to photographing you again on your Wedding Day! Please enjoy a slideshow of a mix of images from Matt and myself of the session.
Kaley and Joshua Engagement Session
Wow-You can’t get much better weather wise in a Winnipeg February than +5C!! Yes-Balmy temp’s perfect for a winter outdoor engagement session for Kaley and Joshua at the Forks! A crazy busy day there-I wouldn’t expect anything different considering it was a Saturday and the weather was so nice! I did note however that even amid all the activity and people at the Forks, it was so obvious this couple only had eyes for each other! We spent the first part of the session inside at the Terminals and then the couple laced up their skates for an outdoor skate on the river! We also had a fun opportunity to check out a couple of the unique warming huts the Forks put up this winter along the skating path. Paolo and I so enjoyed the session and are looking forward to photographing the couple in their upcoming wedding at the end of August! Congrats Kaley and Joshua!
K&D Family/Engagement Session
Sometimes an engagement is not just an engagement of two hearts/souls. It can be more! Sometimes a decision for two people to join in marriage involves bringing other family members into the commitment as well. I realized this after spending time with Kirsten and Daniel and their son during this past weeks engagement session. The love shared among these three was so obvious and I loved being able to capture not only passionate moments between the two but family moments among the three with my camera! Paolo and I are looking forward to spending their wedding day with them in April next year! Congrats you Three!
Viveca and Steven’s Sneak Peek
Fall Leaves, blue sky, open fields, and a reception amid vintage airplanes-WOW what an amazing Fall wedding! Viveca and Steven said their “I do’s ” on October 1st and associate Paolo Porquez and I were there to capture their special moments. They had a very romantic first meeting with each other at Birds Hill Park and were later joined by the Wedding Party to complete the Wedding formals. It was then off to the Church and later the Aviation Museum for the reception. An incredible amount of unique photo opportunities through out the day! Here are just a couple of images-a lot more are still in the works for the blog at a later date!
Charles and Maria Engagement
Some couples are just too much fun. Every time Paolo and I get together with this couple we can’t stop laughing together! Having spent a few hours together with them now, I can really tell they are the best of friends and have a fun loving relationship! Paolo and I are teaming up to photograph their Wedding in September. We find that it is a benefit to us as well as the engagement couple to spend an engagement session time together. We get to know a little bit about how the couple interacts with each other and they get to become familiar with our techniques as photographers, the gear, and most importantly feel more comfortable in front of the camera lens by their Big Day!
The location is chosen by the couple and this couple decided on locations along the river downtown. We spent an hour and a bit having fun photographing them. I’m so looking forward to spending an entire day with them soon! Congrats Charles and Maria!
A great shot by Paolo Porquez above .
I had some fun with the couple on the path’s beside the river.
Eric and Kelly Engagement
Finally-a few moments of quiet to get a blog done! Honestly the last couple month’s have been a work blur! It appeared May started with a flurry of activity, engagement shoots, weddings, events and the opening of the Manitoba Children’s Museum which involved a lot of photo time!
I decided if I didn’t find a bit of time to blog in the next couple of weeks so much would be missed! So here it is the first engagement shoot of the new year! Let me Introduce you to Kelly and Eric. Paolo Porquez and I started co -photographing weddings last year and are continuing into this years wedding season. We are looking forward to photographing the couples wedding in August and had a wonderful opportunity to spend an hour or so with the couple about a month ago for an engagement session.
The couple chose the location of Kildonan Park. Paolo and I had photographed a wedding there last year and we were looking forward to going back. It was a stormy weekend but we had luck and Sunday cleared up for us to keep the session! A big bonus of a storm is always how green the vegetation looks in an image after a great rain! Here is a small collection of our images captured that afternoon for you to enjoy. Congratulations Eric and Kelly- thanks for a wonderful afternoon!
Ruth is Engaged!
Yeah!!!! About 2 months back I got the exciting news that my cousin Ruth was engaged!!! I had met her “special man” over the past couple of years at the annual Christmas family gatherings. In between stuffing myself with Aunt Elsa’s torte and Tante Anna’s amazing Broccoli salad, I was introduced to him and had a chance to observe the couples interaction with each other and the family. He seemed to be a natural fit with the cousins and the rest of the family and I saw “the spark” and I thought to myself, “yep -just a matter of time.”
I had a chance to meet with the couple and was thrilled when they asked if I could do some Engagement picture for them. They chose a great wilderness site complete with railway tracks, close to his home, and the beautiful, historic, St. Boniface Cathedral. Good luck to the happy couple and happy planning with the marriage details!
Amanda and Dave Engagement Sneak peek!
This past Saturday, I spent a beautiful sunny morning with associate Paolo at Birds Hill Park at an engagement session, photographing this amazing couple, Amanda and Dave. This engagement session held a little bit more of a special meaning to me, as Amanda, way back when, was my flower girl at my wedding. Yes, she has definitely has grown up and found herself a great guy! The couple found a great location that offered various romantic “backdrops” perfect for the Engagement session! The textures of wood, trees, shingles and equipment found on the location, has also been perfect for finishing the images with various editing techniques. I’m about 2/3 rds of the way through editing but I so happy with the results I just had to share a sneak peek of the images! Dave and Amanda, It was so great spending time getting to know you better! Paolo and I are so looking forward to spending your wedding day with you in May! Happy planning, oh and by the way, I hope to have your proofing link up for you soon!
