A&D Engagement Sneak Peek

A wonderful week of Engagement  sessions- I went out with A & D this past Saturday morning to Kildonan Park. Days like this, I’m certain I have the best wedding clients! I loved spending time with the couple- finding out that we even have reading and the love for the same genre in common! They were naturals infront of the camera or maybe it was that there love for each other was just so apparent. 🙂 On to editing up their proofs!

M&M Engagement

1646-13elkM&MEng.-4

It was on a slightly chilly day in Feb that associate Matthew Sawatzky and I met with this wonderful couple for their  engagement session at the Forks. -10C is not bad considering the temp. we reach on average during the winter here in Winnipeg! We had some fun posing indoors at the terminals and then continued the session -taking to the warming hut out doors. The couple laced up their skates and spend some time on the scenic river path. Planning for a late in the day session had its advantages in that we were able to catch the sun going down in some of our images. The sun turned out to be a nice twist to the day as it had been cloudy up until that time! Please enjoy some of the images we were able to capture! Thanks M&M for a great afternoon-Looking forward to spending your wedding day with you!

K & G Wedding

1623-12ekpLadiesgetready-17

I can sum up K & G’s Wedding Day in two words-Beautiful and so Heartfelt! Details of their wedding were so thought out and full of emotional connection. Everything from wearing her mom’s veil to the police pin she adorned her bouquet with in memory of her father.  It was a true pleasure for associate Paolo Porquez and me to spend the day photographing this couple, their family and wedding party! The day started with a trip to the hairdressers and then back to the bride’s mom’s house for the final touches before the outdoor wedding ceremony at a friend’s backyard in Tuxedo. Formals were taken at the Legislative Building and a few at the Transit building as well. (Make sure you check out their Sneak Peek  for more images from that location!) It was a handy last location as we only had to cross a parking lot to get to the reception venue! It’s always so hard to just pick out a few images to represent a full Wedding Day- but here are a few! Enjoy!

K&J Wedding

1616-12K&JFormals-98-2

It’s January and the cold winter winds and snow of Winnipeg has most of us huddled in the warmth of our homes. Some  photographers like myself are enjoying a little “down time” from the “craz” of the last half of the year and are taking advantage of the time editing wedding albums, completing blogs, doing Website work , and of course planning and marketing for the New Year. I unfortunately have yet to experience a warm destination wedding in January or February – and this week’s -30C conditions around me are adding insult to injury. Hence I can only think of one way to think  “warm thoughts”  and blog about this past summer wedding.. :).

Associate Paolo and I had a wonderful day photographing this couple on their  Special Day!  It was also one of those wedding families that you just want to be adopted by 🙂 So Warm and Welcoming and I might add hilarious-I laughed the whole way through photographing the reception speeches!

You may recall this couple’s  sneak peek. (Just click on the highlighted words to get there!) …but I felt like I just had to share a few more images of their Wedding day with you! Thanks Kaley and Joshua for having us be part of your Beautiful Wedding Day!!

K&G Sneak Peek!

Congratulations go out to Garrett and Kerilyn!! The Wedding day flew by and was full of fun highlights including our time at Winnipeg’s new Rapid Transit Terminal! Even though it was a coolish day, the couple were great sports waiting for us to catch some images with a bus in the terminal- that is a bus in the terminal on a Sat. in Winnipeg…. (Translation- l-o-n-g wait). I guess I need to confess to the couple that we actually did get that image  2 min. into the terminal, the other 15 min. -well, who am I to interrupt  a couple enjoying being in each other’s warm, quiet, long embrace in the whirl of a busy day..:)

Fall Wedding!

I can hardly believe it’s here already!! It just seems like the other day when Garrett asked “THE question” and Kerilyn said yes! It was so much fun spending some time with them during their Engagement session in the Spring and Paolo and I are looking forward to photographing their Fall Wedding tomorrow!! Stay tuned for some sneak peeks!

K&J’s Wedding Sneak Peek

It’s only a Sneak Peek- I have to be careful not to give too much away (picture wise) before the couple get to see their images. But I can tell you this..

The Bride wore an awesome pair of shoes…and an incredibly beautiful gown!

The flower girls and Ring Bearer were so cute! (And the Ring Bearer sported Blue highlights in his blond hair!)

The Bridal Party was gorgeous/ handsome and a lot of fun! 🙂

The flower’s were stunning with bold pinks and blues- as were the other Wedding Day accents.

The Reception featured a vintage styled record candy Bar including these above gems! It also had Gummie Teeth, Tootsie rolls, black licorice cigars and much more!…oh and you wouldn’t believe the amazing cake design!

and MOST IMPORTANTLY the day featured a couple DEEPLY in Love!

Watch for their Wedding blog next month!

L & D June Wedding

This beautiful wedding was brought to you by a bride who is absolutely, hands down,  an amazingly organized individual. It was planned and executed in just 4 weeks!!! That’s right, everything including the ceremony location, dress, rings, Limo, and photographer! It was a pleasure to have met Lily and Damir through a fellow photographer who passed on their names to me. I just happened to have the 2 hour, evening date open and got fellow photographer, Katy Winterflood to help as a second photographer for the Event. The lusciously green, Leo Mol Garden at the Assiniboine Park, was the perfect backdrop for the Ceremony,  Family Formals and Wedding Party Formals! We completed photographing all 3 in a record 1 3/4 hours! Thanks Lily and Damir for “hanging in” there , making it through the photography portions in the incredibly hot weather (well into the mid 30C’s.) Thank-you for allowing us to be part of the Special Day with you! Congratulations!!!

Kristin and Daryl’s June Wedding

June 16th, Kristin and Daryl’s Wedding Day- and such a beautifully detailed wedding it was!!! Amazing, handcrafted Bride and Bridesmaid’s hangers featuring their names, bride and groom cookie thank-you handouts, engagement photo posters for guests to sign, and a wonderful bright fuchsia colour for the flowers and wedding party dresses and accents-just perfect against the outdoor bright green setting of the Ceremony and the Wedding Party Formals. This brings me to the topic of the weather that day. I don’t know if in all the years I’ve been photographing weddings, that I have ever experienced such a day of crazy weather that seemed to conform to the wishes and plans of a bride. The morning began with rain as the bride and her attendants got ready at the hairdressers, but on cue, the sun broke through the clouds just on time and just long enough to allow for  an outdoor ceremony at The Gates.  The rain continued just minutes after the ceremony had concluded, but broke once again for the Wedding Party Formals at outdoor venues in Assiniboine Park and Headingly.  “Made to order” blue skies, white fluffy clouds and green grass and leaves were perfect setting for this photographer and for this couple -especially with their appreciation of the outdoors!!!

My second photographer on this Wedding was Matthew Sawatzky,  an alumni of Prairie View School of Photography. I just love his Camera perspective and editing finesse. Some of the images below are just a few of my favorites captured by him during the day.  Please enjoy a slide show of our combined images below! Thanks Kristin and Daryl and Wedding Party for a fun-filled Day!

R&J June Wedding

June 1st -Ronee and Jerry’s wedding day! I’m always amazed by how fast wedding days fly by especially when you’re with warm, inviting and fun wedding parties and families!! Paolo and I had a great time photographing this wedding couple. The day turned out to be perfect for outdoor wedding pictures! The previous days rains had made the grass so green, the cloud formations created interest in the blue skies and only near the end of the Formals did we hear the faint rumblings of thunder.

This couple had a later ceremony time on a Friday, which meant that the Formal photography was first. For me, as a photographer, I especially enjoy when a couple asks for a “first meet” by themselves at a designated location before the Formals. It’s so much fun, so intimate and romantic.  We did this at Birds Hill Park and about 15 min. later were joined by the rest of the wedding party and then the families for their formal session. Then is was off to the ceremony at N.K.M.B. church and over to Niverville Heritage Centre for the reception. Flowers were done by Tatiana Penner.(click on the name and check out the website!). Please enjoy just a few of the images captured by Paolo and myself that day!

R & J’s Vintage Wedding

May 19th was this couple’s wedding date. You may recall a sneak peek  a while ago. “Vintage” was the theme the bride Ruth gave me. Nothing like showing up the day of the wedding to see the bride getting ready and realize how many details she has put into the day to make that theme realized. I was so impressed with the hand sewn dress my cousin Carolyn made for her daughter, the fabric flower with veil head piece and men’s corsages that include buttons from her Grandma, the seed bead and button necklaces the bridesmaids wore, and the hand made doilies that graced the tables at the reception as well as the vintage broaches on the wedding cake (I should also mention Ruth made the wedding cakel!!). Even her make-up, done by Meig Burgess of Kiss&Makeup by MEIG, had a wonderful vintage feel to it!  The Formal locations were chosen carefully to create the days- gone- by and that even included Ruth bringing along some antique props like suitcases! The picture of the ring on the Bible was unique too as the Bible was Ruth’s great great Grandmother’s! The locations played a wonderful part in photographing to include plenty of grain and a couple of new vintage presets that worked to create some unique old style images. The evening ended up at Rembrandts in Lockport and the sun even came out so we could grab a couple of sunset pics. So much thought put into the details by the couple for their Special day!

Paolo Porquez was my second shooter on this wedding and please find below some of his images that really made my Fav. top 10! Please enjoy the slideshow of our combined images of the day below! Congrats go out to the couple!!!!

K&D Wedding

FINALLY!:) Unfortunately blogging has gone to the wayside in the last 6 weeks due to the photographing and editing schedule. July is here, and I find I have a bit of time to get caught up on sharing what I’ve been busy with! Some of you may recall K&D’s sneak peek from April (Just click on the name to go back and view). Well- time to share a few more images! Kirsten and Daniel’s wedding was a beautiful event-Paolo, (second photographer) and I enjoyed spending the day with this wonderful couple, their families, and their fun wedding party!

Highlights for me included the incredibly decorated reception room featuring a candy bar and the wedding Party formals at the downtown Library! A special moment that I enjoyed photographing during the day, were the last few moments of Kirsten getting ready with her parents at the hotel room before she headed off to the ceremony. I loved the black and white series of images captured in the natural light from the hotel room window, illuminating the special intimate moments between Kirsten and her parents. Congratulations go out to the couple!

Below-My top 2 images from Paolo- plus check out his shots of the reception room and the groom getting ready in the slideshow!

Wedding this week!

Just starting the pre-wedding gear pack-up and prep for Ronalee and Jerry’s wedding this Friday! Looks like the days of rain here in the “Peg” will soon come to an end and we could be in for some beautiful photography weather for their special Day! Paolo and I enjoyed an early evening engagement session on Waterfront drive with the couple just a couple weeks back. We are looking forward to meeting their Wedding Party, Families and Guests in just a couple of days! Stay tuned for a wedding sneak peek next week!

My Fav. “Paolo P image” from the session above!

R&J Wedding Sneak Peek

Congrats go out to R&J who were married this past Saturday, May 19th! Amid the rain of the day we stayed cozy & dry (for the most part!) in unique photo locations working on creating a “vintage feel” for the couple. I’m LOVING the challenge of developing new vintage editing presets as well! More images to come in the following weeks!

K&D Wedding Sneak Peek

Yes, this romance  has a Storybook ending!:) Literally!LOL!  Kirstin and Daniel had a marvelous idea of having the formal images for their big day taken at the Library!  A superb place to find colour, texture, light and and provide a little romantic quiet time for the couple on their busy Wedding Day!  Stay tuned for more images of their Wedding Day to come in the upcoming weeks!!

Kaley and Joshua Engagement Session

Wow-You can’t get much better weather wise in a Winnipeg February than +5C!! Yes-Balmy temp’s perfect for a winter outdoor engagement session for Kaley and Joshua at the Forks! A crazy busy day there-I wouldn’t expect anything different considering it was a Saturday and the weather was so nice! I did note however that even amid all the activity and people at the Forks, it was so obvious this couple only had eyes for each other! We spent the first part of the session inside at the Terminals and then the couple laced up their skates for an outdoor skate on the river! We also had a fun opportunity to check out a couple of the unique warming huts the Forks put up this winter along the skating path. Paolo and I so enjoyed the session and are looking forward to photographing the couple in their upcoming wedding at the end of August! Congrats Kaley and Joshua!

Red River College Campus Wedding #3

Red River College Campus Wedding #3. The third wedding set-up in a series of 5, I photographed for them this past summer.  I have to say I LOVE the building character of the Princess Campus. Its architecture “old meets new” and the colours are eye catching! I just had to have a little fun editing the first image above in an edgy technique to capture some of the unique historical textures and bright modern colours found in its front entrance alone!

This wedding was unique from the others I had photographed in that I was able to capture the wedding ceremony set-up as well.  The Campus offer their facilities to weddings ceremonies as well as conferences in such a set-up. It never ceases to amaze me how each wedding reception set-up is unique-with this particular wedding, guests arrived at the Elgin entrance to be greeted by Champagne on ice and glasses surrounded by rose petals! Very nice touch! If you are interested in finding out more about the rentals click on the link, Red River Campus Rentals.

Red River Campus Wedding #2

Okay-just saying- I thought it was difficult dealing with rumblings in my  tummy initiated by inhaling mouthwatering aromas while photographing the delectable dishes during this session, but I’m finding it equally difficult to calm those same rumblings as I’m viewing the images to be posted to this blog! ( Note to self- In the future, post food blogs on a full stomach!LOL!)

As promised, a couple of months back, I’m continuing to show some of the images I’ve photographed of wedding receptions at the Red River Campus on Princess. The images were captured to feature The Campus’s great wedding rental facility.  Not only does the Campus offer amazing rental facilities-they provide a wonderful catering service as well! Usually I’m in and out of the Reception room, to photograph before the guests arrive, but for this one I stayed till the food came out to the buffet table to catch on camera, some of the beautifully displayed dishes and desserts offered. ( I was also very impressed and swayed to photograph the colourful candy buffet put together by the Wedding Party on this one! ) Checkout some of the yummy, colourful images! (and yes-I’m off to the kitchen to go satisfy the tummy rumblings!)

Steven and Viveca Married!

Finally! I have been trying to find time in a busy pre- Christmas shooting/editing schedule to blog about this couple’s amazing wedding! Steven and Viveca were married in October. Some of you may recall their Sneak Peek from last month. I loved this wedding because both the bride and the groom had distinctly different tastes in wedding photography. Prior to the wedding day, I asked the couple to pick images of wedding photography that they liked and tell me what they liked about the image. I found out that Steven loved to play with depth of field and Viveca loved more of a contemporary feel to her images with a slight romantic flare. With each image I shot on the day of the wedding and each image I edited afterwards I found myself saying, this one’s for Steven, this one’s for Viveca. I so enjoyed shooting from different points of view with my camera and using a variety of editing techniques!!!

I was fortunate to work with the awesome photography team of Jonah O’Neil and Paolo Porquez during the wedding day. You can check out a few of Jonah’s amazing arial shots of the Ceremony from the catwalk at the N.K.M.B. Church and some of Paolo’s images from Bird’s Hill Park and the reception at the Aviation Museum in the slideshow below. Special thanks to the wedding party and the couple for making the day a lot of fun! Congratulations Viveca and Steven, it was an honor to spend your Special Day with you!

C & G Married!

You may recall from an earlier blog a sneak peek on the “unveiling” of this couple’s wedding day. It was a beautiful September day with balmy temps in the 30 C’s! Charles and “G”, Maria’s nick name, were such a wonderful couple to spend the day with. They have such a warm personality and are so fun loving! The day consisted of the girls getting ready at Sets and getting dressed at the Hotel Fort Garry.  The wedding was at a beautiful church in St. Boniface, with wedding formals at the Leg. and a reception at the Hotel Fort Garry. You could see their personalities in all the beautiful details of the day! Associate photographer, Paolo Porquez and I, had such a fun filled day photographing this couple’s Wedding Day! Congrats go out to the newly married couple! Enjoy just a few images captured through out the day!

Red River Campus Wedding #5

A grey and yellow theme, a Sweetheart table feature and an amazing amount of hand folded paper cranes adorning the windows, the ceiling, and even the cupcakes! This was the 5th Wedding Reception set-up I’ve photographed for the Red River College Campus located in Downtown Winnipeg. I’ve spent 5 Saturdays over the last few months capturing images for them to use for promotional materials and on their website. I’ve quite enjoyed each session. As a portrait photographer, weddings are part of my work but I seldom get to spend a quiet full hour by myself just photographing the reception room and the decor. I’m also always amazed by the work put into a reception at this venue and how each are unique in colour schemes, decor items and set-up. I can really see how the staff of the Red River facility work with their clients to create a reception room unique to the couple and their Wedding Day plans. I look forward to sharing with you the other 4 Wedding Reception set-ups in the near future-all unique in set-up and colour scheme!

K&D Family/Engagement Session

Sometimes an engagement is not just an engagement of two hearts/souls. It can be more! Sometimes a decision for two people to join in marriage involves bringing other family members into the commitment as well.  I realized this after spending time with Kirsten and Daniel and their son during this past weeks engagement session. The love shared among these three was so obvious and I loved being able to capture not only passionate moments between the two but family moments among the three with my camera! Paolo and I are looking forward to spending their wedding day with them in April next year! Congrats you Three!

Viveca and Steven’s Sneak Peek

Fall Leaves, blue sky, open fields, and a reception amid vintage airplanes-WOW what an amazing Fall wedding! Viveca and Steven said their “I do’s ” on October 1st and associate Paolo Porquez and I were there to capture their special moments. They had a very romantic first meeting with each other at Birds Hill Park and were later joined by the Wedding Party to complete the Wedding formals. It was then off to the Church and later the Aviation Museum for the reception. An incredible amount of unique photo opportunities through out the day! Here are just a couple of images-a lot more are still in the works for the blog at a later date!

Charles and Maria Sneak Peek-The Un-veiling!

G and I at Sets on Fort. The “Red Eye” morning hours getting ready for the Big Day! Her inner beauty just shining through the veil!

I knew with the amount of fun Paolo and I had with this couple’s engagement pictures, this Wedding Day was bound to be a blast! I had such a great time with the couple that day and especially enjoyed my time with Maria, also know as “G”, getting ready in the morning at Sets on Fort. I was so excited when G said she had a veil and even more so when I saw how long it was!!! I knew we were in for some great and even unexpected photo opportunities that included that veil! So here are just a couple of the veil related images as a Sneak Peek. Full Wedding Blog to come soon!

Yes, that is G beneath the veil.
